High Summer, Bodiam Bridge
Phew! What a scorcher. I took up the invitation of Anna and Nick from The Hub, Bodiam to paint Bodiam Bridge from their field. JMW Turner has painted in this field, but having compared the painting and the actual view, he definitely took artistic licence and moved the castle to bring it into the painting. Do a search to see the painting - it's called “Bodiam Castle, Sussex“. It's interesting to see how the bridge and land around it once looked (the extra arches are apparently still there, just covered up with changes made to avoid the river flooding). I chose to stick with what was in front of me. No cattle either!
