Watching the fish, Sissinghurst Lake

Yesterday I went along to Sissinghurst Lake. The weather was mostly sunny with the odd shower but nothing to cause too much annoyance. The lake was looking beautiful - completely still and I set up looking towards the small wooden jetty positioned over the lake, giving visitors a great view of all the fish. Several walkers with their dogs passed me by and stopped for a chat as well as some tourists, a dragonfly enthusiast asking me if I had seen any of the Golden-ringed species (I hadn't!) and a few mums with young children - two of them stopped on the jetty long enough for me to include in my painting. A couple of the youngsters told me they were searching for the fairy doors and were very, very pleased to have found two of them so far.... It was a lovely day.

Oil on board, 20 x 30 cms.
